Family Update

Where has the time gone? Last post on here was the girls' birthday. Shame on me! We've since had a few holidays, celebrations, and a lot of pictures, so I thought I would add to our blog.

Halloween was a fun time; Makenna was a "pretty, pretty princess" and Maddee was an M&M. We went trick-or-treating with cousin, Rowan, who was an astronaut.

Soon after we celebrated Daddy's birthday with an ice cream cake. Mmm-mmm good.

We didn't skip Thanksgiving, but I forgot to take the camera to Matt and Norma's house. I did get a picture of the girls eating breakfast. We had a great day, good food and friends. Not many naps were taken that day.

Recently, we decorated for Christmas. Makenna asks every day if it's Christmas. It may be a long holiday season. :)

We'll soon be taking family pictures for our Christmas cards, hope to get those out to everyone before 2011. Happy Holidays.

Birthday Bar-B-Q

Well, we did it. It's 10 o'clock at night and we're still awake after a day full of fun, family and friends. I was so excited about all of the pictures, I had to stay awake to get them posted to this blog. A huge thanks to all those who came and to those who were there in spirit.

Thanks to the Cantrell's meat slicer, we had awesome tri-tip sandwiches, complete with grilled onions and mushrooms. Thanks to our friend, Tina, for making the beautiful Shrek birthday cake. Not only did it taste great, the kids loved the waffles on top. (You have to watch Shrek 4 to get that one.)

Although the temp was supposed to be over 100 today, it topped out around 97; and with the nice breeze that came along, felt like a cool 90. Honestly, it wasn't too bad. Makenna and Maddee were blessed with many gifts; we're very fortunate to have so many thoughtful friends and family. Our only regret is that Godfather Matt left his swimsuit at home. Even Daddy got into the summer spirit and wore shorts - he's the one with the really tan legs - hee-hee, not really. Maybe next year we can get all the cowboys to wear their shorts!

Well, I'm finally starting to fade. I hope you take a minute to browse the pictures below. I think you will see that fun was had by all!

Look Who's One!

Time flies when you're having fun, and this past year has been all that and more. Maddee celebrated her first birthday with her very own chocolate cupcake, a chocolate cupcake made with love from her big sister.

In a couple of Saturdays we will be having a birthday bar-b-q to celebrate both Makenna and Maddee's birthdays; will post pictures of that, too. Stay tuned.

Spring 2010

It's been awhile since I've updated the blog. In less than two months, Maddee will celebrate her first birthday and Makenna will be three! That's hard to believe.

We're busy getting ready for the summer months. The Baker women will be headed to Wyoming for two weeks at the end of June. Our nephew, Jason, is getting married on June 26 in Pocatello, Idaho. John will be flying out for just a few days as he can't take that much time off work.

The pictures in the slide show are random pictures taken over the last month or so. Cousin Rowan brought his bubble machine out one day and the kids had a great time chasing bubbles. Although we don't have pictures of it, later that evening we had s'mores. Mmm, mmm, good.

Fishing 2010

Well, today was the first day of the year we went fishing. With any luck, we'll have many days to follow. As you can see it was a beautiful day, nearly 70 degrees! Makenna and Maddee had a great time. We were on the water for nearly 4 hours and neither one cried or made a fuss. Makenna had a good time fishing, eating Daddy's hot dog, and playing with the water in the water bottles. Make special note of the words hot dog as that implies we had a barbecue grill on the boat. Yes indeed, we have a grill on the boat. This is the life!

Sad news, however, as we lost the princess fishing pole. The funniest thing is that I got it on video. I really have to post it, it's hilarious! Luckily, Makenna took it pretty good. I think there may have been a mention of the Easter Bunny knowing she might need a new pole.

One picture may need a little explanation. At the end of the day, John took a picture of Maddee and me. I'm wearing a t-shirt that says "Beat Bake". This shirt has a great story behind it. John and I had decided to go to a college b-ball game a few years ago. Neither one of us could make up our minds if we should go or not and it led to a little spat. (And I do say little because that accurately describes them!) Anyway, I was being my stubborn self on the way to town, I can't even remember why I was mad. So we get to the game and everyone was wearing t-shirts that said "Beat Bake". The local college was playing Bakersfield and so they had these shirts made up for the game. I have to tell you, it was like a message from Heaven telling John that I was right, no matter what we were arguing about.

Since that time I've kept this shirt in a very safe place and only wear it on special occasions. I was hoping wearing it today would show my dominance in the fish catching competition, but it was not to be as we didn't get a single bite! Ah, nonetheless, it was a great day with the girls. I'll just have to tuck away my special shirt for the next outing.

Christmas 2009

It's a bit late in posting, but here are some pics of our holidays in Wyoming. Family tradition has Santa visiting on Christmas Eve. It will always be my favorite Christmas memory from childhood, and now it's even more meaningful watching our girls with Santa.
